Finish Graham Ibbeson's Celebration Statue to honour football pioneers Cyrille Regis, Laurie Cunningham and Brendon Batson

by Murry Toms in Birmingham, West Midlands, England

It’s a wonderful cause... I’m so happy I donated, to keep the memory of these great sporting, trailblazers alive!!! X
Happy to support this, as a life-long football supporter. These three men helped make the world a better place. YNWA
They led the way with dignity and skill and as a result inspired some wonderful players which as a Toon fan I have had the honour to watch ie. Les Ferdinand, Ruel Fox and Shola Ameobi. Football is black and white.
I hope WBA FC are reading this, stumps up the balance, and ensures the statue is placed in a prominent position at the shrine. WBA FC is not just / (even) about the football, it's far more....this work reminds us of that.
As a football fan who grew up in the late 70's and early 80's these guys were fantastic to watch even though I'm from London and a Fulham fan
Cyril Regis Cunningham & Baston broke down barriers and paved the way not only for black players but black fans. As a black man growing up I remember the 70’s & 80’s when it was not safe to attend football matches racism was rife . That’s not so today things have changed, Regis Cunningham & Baston were the players that started that change. RIP Cyril.
This statue is required as a monument to the first black footballers to grace English football and who paved the way for many other since then.
Pioneers and role models for all Afrikan Heritage sports people and beyond sports... Supported by the National association of Black Supplementary Schools. www.nabss.org.uk
A statue is a fitting tribute to Laurie Cunningham, Cyrille Regis and Brandon Batson's achievements both on and off the pitch. They stood tall with pride, dignity and class at the vanguard against racism in football .
I love these guys, they are legends. Fighting racism in the face of adversity! Never gave in, never let racism win! They paved the way for other players. Makes me proud to be from West Bromwich! ❤
The history of great achievements in the fight against racism and discrimination should never be forgotten. Let our past inform our future actions.
