Peter has taken on a 100 bench challenge as he wants to raise money for a memorial bench in celebration of Jimmy McIntosh's life.
Jimmy dedicated his life to fighting for the rights of people with disabilities. Among other things, he won the right for disabled people living in institutions to vote. He was a much loved man and we would like to celebrate his life with a memorial bench.
Peter is looking for sponsorship to sit on 100 benches in Princes St Gardens to raise money to honour Jimmy's life and contribution to the community of Edinburgh.
He will be doing this on Wednesdays in September. Peter is offering some great rewards for your donations! Scroll down below to read about them:
Up to £10: Thank you :-)
We will give you automatic entry into a raffle for £30 Filmhouse vouchers (kindly donated by Peter) plus a thank you on our Facebook page.
£15: Peter will share your personal bench message!
Peter will dedicate one of his bench sittings to your personal message for Jimmy, a loved one, or message or quote about equality and inclusion. We'll share it on our facebook page and tag any people you want us to dedicate it to.
£20: Peter will record a video message for you!
Peter will dedicate one of his bench sittings to recording a video message for you, like this one, he did for Linda! Your message could be for a loved one, a friend, Jimmy or something about inclusion or equality. We'll share it on our facebook page and tag any people you want to dedicate it to.
£25: Have your photo taken with Peter and your message!
Come and join Peter and have your photo taken with him with your message :-) We'll share it on our facebook page and tag any people you want to dedicate it to.
If we raise extra money, it will go towards the publishing of a book Jimmy wrote about his life. A short film has also been made about Jimmy. Here is the trailer if you want to know more:
