The coronoa virus /COVID-19 situation will hit us all hard. It will hit the catering industry very hard. A very large proportion of the industry depend up on flexible working, zero hours contracts and service charge to pay their bills.
There will be a lot of very very worried people out there in our industry right now, and I want to help them. I intend this to be a fund for those on the front line of our industry to help pay their rent, council tax or utility bills.
The commis chefs, the waiters, the kitchen porters. They are the foundation on which a good business is built. We as an industry are desperate enough for staff as it is, we cannot afford to lose good talent because people have to find other industries in which to work because people have to avoid crowded spaces, and cannot go out for dinners and drinks.
We have a responsibility to each other to limit contagion by staying in, but now let us look after those who will look after us when we want to get back to going out and socialising again.
