I've been so inspired by the new wave of long-form discussions on YouTube that move us beyond the polemics of disagreement and straw-manning the opposite position and towards a more powerful endeavour to steel-man and deeply consider and critique positions we don't agree with. This is what we aim to do at Cat Conversations and to do it mainly with commentators and thinkers here in the UK.
We've already recorded 5 conversations since we started at the beginning of September. That's a rate of one per week that we'll continue going forward. There's only one up on YouTube though because the tech challenge that we've come across is that our computers aren't big enough to handle the MASSIVE files that we're creating and so uploading from an SD card is taking 2-3 days to complete... and that's after editing.
So with the £1,000 we're crowdfunding for, we'll get an iMac in order to both store, edit, and upload our conversations radically reducing the time it takes to get from studio to interweb.
We're already being massively supported through the free use of Straw Hat Studio's here in Totnes (thank you Adrian!!) and by my production woman working waaay more hours than I'm paying her for <3 but your support with the iMac is a great first step to being both self-sufficient and streamlined.
Thank you so much for your consideration and potential support in our project. You are greatly appreciated.
