Our village greenbelt is under attack from developers. The Community Council are raising a legal fund to contest the latest travesty, which was approved at the recent Planning Review Committee meeting at Glasgow City Council.
The application, by Zoom Developments, to build four houses in the field on Busby Road in Carmunnock was rejected by the Planning Committee. The developer appealed this decision and the Planning Local Review Committee approved their application.
The approval was contrary to advice provided by Council officials and planning guidelines regarding the protection of greenbelt. In addition, the developer failed to provide a range of reports required by planning policies.
As well as the above issues, the Planning Review Committee also failed to recognise or take into consideration the high number of objections (over 100) raised against this application.
We would urge you to watch the video recording of this meeting, in order to fully understand the lack of process, apparent lack of knowledge of the issues and consistent ignoring of advice from council officials.
Carmunnock Community Council intend to contest this decision through all possible channels. This may include a bringing a legal case against Glasgow City Council. Such cases are expensive but, after seeking preliminary legal counsel, we believe there is a case to answer.
So we are asking for you support in raising a legal fund, which will be controlled and spent by the Community Council. The fund will be used in this case, and any in the future, related to the protection of Greenbelt around our village.
The Community Council will publish its accounts on an annual basis and will maintain the Legal Fund as a separate entry in its accounts.
Please help us protect our wonderful green spaces.
