Sometime ago my 6 year old daughter told me she wanted a motor home! So I told her she could save for one and that I would help her. I wanted to teach her that no dream is too big and if you really want something, work hard for it and do not give up that anything can be possible ! This then turned into a family project with everyone saving there loose change, pocket money etc....
As a family North Devon has always held a special place in our hearts, it where we took our first holiday as a couple, first family sun holiday, we even married there! So this summer we began to scour our favourite beaches for what we call "sea treasure".... the children and I started to make framed pictures from seaglass and pebbles that we had found, in hope we could sell them and put the money in the "motor-home fund". We arranged to sell them at a local craft fayre on 17th Nov, the night before both our girls got a sickness bug and were gutted that they had to miss the fayre! We are now exploring alternative ways to sell them, we have created accounts and listed items on ebay, etsy, shpock and instagram. Alongside side this we hope to sell at summer festivals so that we can spend more quality time together and teach our children about business. We also plan to use social media so we can share our progress with our supporters.
Any Money donated will be used for for buying equipment and transport to set up a stall at festivals, marketing to advertise our various pages and get our product out there for people to see.
A little about us....
In the 8 years my husband and I have known each other, we have had 2 daughters and got married. My husband struggled for work and we owed money here, there and everywhere. So he retrained as a barber and we set up and built a business, our own Barber Shop, we have saved and bought our first house and will pay off our last outstanding debt in early 2019 !! We de-registered our daughters from school in May this year for a variety of reasons and now I home educate them with the the help of my parents while I also work partime. Education is of upmost importance to us but ultimately their happiness and mental health comes first and we can now say we have 2 happy children who are academically doing brilliantly. But there is so much more to life and this is what we want to teach them, kindness, thinking of others, common sense, show them the world around us, how other people and cultures live, nature and all the beautiful places there are to explore.
To say I am proud of my family is a massive understatement, we will continue with our family mission, saving, making and selling our pictures with the motto to "never give up", but any help no matter how small will be massively appreciated and go along way in teaching the children that it's always ok to ask for help and to cement the believe that we live alongside some amazing individuals !!!
