My friend Iain had a stroke at the age of 46, which was as you might imagine was devastating both for him and his family
At the time Iain was estranged from his partner and children, his sister lived in America and his mother lived in England, so I felt it my responsibility to help in any way I could this led to me being Iain's primary carer for the next 6 years.
Iain has quite severe cognitive problems, he finds language difficult both understanding and communicating, he tires easily and also developed epilepsy as a result of the stroke, considering all these health troubles Iain has kept a positive attitude and copes better with life than I could under these circumstances.
Iain hasn't had any kind of holiday in the last 3-4 years and I'd like to be able to take him (and the dog) places we used to go, before his illness we used to go caravaning in my old caravan which he really enjoyed .
I have started to sell of bits and pieces I have around to start a fund to hopefully buy a small second hand camper van to enable me to take him on holiday and it was suggested to me that I try to raise money via crowd funding, although i'm skeptical, if it will help me help Iain then I'm willing to try.
