Hobble and hike is a 50km walk happening on 11th May 2019. This is an annual event to raise awareness and much-needed funds for Camdeboo Hospice, each participant is requested to raise 1000 bucks by getting sponsors for their walk. Everyone involved is a volunteer, they do not get paid a cent, we all do this with all the love in hearts and gratitude for this organisation. There are so many families affected by life-threatening illnesses, some are poor and have very little, others more fortunate, Camdeboo Hospice helps them all wherever possible or required. All money raised goes directly to this organisation.
This is an annual event which started many years ago with just a small handful of participants, it grows a little bigger each year, this year they are hoping for at least 300 entries. Rose has threated to do this for a few years now, but this is her first. She started training on Tue 12th Feb with a 14km walk, she has a great fitness routine planned and is determined to be prepared for this challenge. If we can help her to raise more than the requested entry the better the organisation can function, perhaps it can even begin to thrive. Camdeboo Hospice is a registered charity based in Graaff Reinet, South Africa. This walk takes place in the beautiful countryside just outside of the town and it ends in the nearby town, Nieu Bethesda. After walking for approximately 8 to 9 hours the participants are treated to a traditional braai before being taken back to Graaff Reinet.
Help me to help Rose achieve her goal, she has decided to try and raise the same amount but in Pounds, this will go much further and to an incredibly worthy cause. We will keep you posted and update her programme and let you know how she is progressing with her fitness training. So far so good, week one is behind her now and she completed 30km in total for the first short week.
