I have always been a creative person and loved the fact that if you put your all into something, it will be worth it and it will have a positive impact on yourself and others. And for those who know me, they know that when I put my head into something, the result will be good!
I currently own a small business/shop in Kendal - South Cumbria, where I sell all natural, handmade and cruelty free body, face and bath products.
It all started, just over 3 years ago when I came across this amazing company that was just starting to sell their products on a wholesale basis. I started selling their products at local fairs and markets and also had a little spot in the local shopping centre. The products are amazing and the feedback that I got from customers was very positive, so much so, I decided to open a shop in my local town.
The interest for my products is growing everyday and I now have a considerable amount of loyal customers that return time and time again!
I have recently moved premises which allowed me to attract new customers as well as maintaining the existing ones.
But, one question I keep being asked is, “Do you make these products?” to which I have to answer “No, I don’t”.
With time, I have created a very good relationship with my customers, and the atmosphere is always very good whenever anyone comes in the shop.
So my customers asked me why wouldn’t I think of making my own products?
Surely, my knowledge and absolute love for what I do would be a good start in creating my own range of products!
The demand for natural, plastic free products is increasing day by day, and people are becoming very interested in the idea of buying natural handmade soaps, as they know that they will not have any form of synthetic chemicals, therefore being better for their bodies and the environment. Also, the impact that plastic is having on Nature is making people very aware of this fact, which in turn makes them very welcoming to plastic and synthetic chemical free products.
That got me thinking, and although I know what I have to do, and have now (after hours and hours of YouTube videos, book reading and research) the knowledge to get it started, finance is the only thing that will be slowing it down, as I would still need to do a few courses to give me more confidence, I would also need to apply for products assessments to be law compliant and of course would need to buy all the equipment, ingredients and supplies in order to make my natural, organic and handmade soaps and shampoos.
After talking to a friend that has her own project running in here, I thought that it would be amazing if I could get my project up and running sooner that I thought.
So, a lot of thinking and planning later, I have decided to put my project on here in the hope that I will be able to achieve my goals.
My future plans also include, extending my range to other body and bath products, but to start with I will be making soaps and shampoo bars.
Finally, I would just like to say that I am very eager to start and get going, so I do hope my project gets the support it needs.
