During the COVID19 outbreak, I noticed how the community rallied around to help those in need to get what they needed and to help keep them happy. I also noticed that as soon as soon as lockdown receded, this reduced as people went back to work and many people became 'too busy' again.
My business idea was born on the back of this. As someone with elderly relatives, I have noticed that although we go in and do the essentials, it's not always possible to do all those little things they want to be done. Things like nipping to the shops, sitting and reading to them because books are now too heavy to hold, making a phone call with them because the call centre system is complicated, building that flowerbed that has gone to ruin as they can't do it any more or even just helping them have a tidy around and a chat.
What I'm proposing to do is to start up a business which aims to be available to do these things and more. I would like to be able to set this up so that I can eventually become a larger business with more employees and be able to do this full time, however at present, I will be running this alongside my day job until I have clients and tasks established. My vision is to be that trusted person that my clients feel comfortable to call when they need a job doing or for me to be that person who rings/visits and checks in for a cuppa and to make sure they are ok.
Any money received would go towards purchasing tools for gardening tasks, cleaning tools, uniform and necessary security checks, alongside ongoing expenses such as insurance and business running costs. I would also ensure that all visits / tasks carried out are done in accordance with current COVID regulations at that time. My initial plan is to set up within the Pontefract area, based on time availability and testing the market.
Thank you if you've read this far. I would be really grateful for any financial support received. Setting up a business is something I never thought I would consider, however having seen how the older generation have been affected during COVID, I really feel that something needs to be done to keep them motivated and happy.
