What is the Built by her, backed by us campaign?

We've partnered with Muddy Stilettos to find the UK's most inspiring female entrepreneurs and changemakers! This campaign is all about supporting women across the country who have brilliant business ideas or community projects that could transform their local areas. If you've been dreaming of launching something amazing but need financial support and guidance to make it happen, this is your opportunity!

Who can take part?

We're looking for female-led local businesses, social enterprises, community projects, or brand new business ideas. You might be a community hero making a positive difference locally, a businesswoman ready to take your venture to the next level, or someone with a brilliant idea you're launching from your kitchen table. If you're a woman with drive and vision, we want to hear from you!

What could I win?

Our first-place winner will receive £5,000 in cash from Crowdfunder plus a £5,000 national promotional package from Muddy Stilettos – that's a total prize value of £10,000! Second place receives £1,000 cash and a £1,000 regional promotional package, while third place gets £500 cash and a £500 local promotional package.

How do I enter?

The competition will close to new projects on 1st July at 23:59, but you can still crowdfund for your idea by following these steps:

    • Tell your story – Add photos and videos to show why you’re raising funds
    • You could apply for +Extra funding – Unlock match funding opportunities
    • Add rewards to your project page  – Give back to your supporters
    When is the campaign running?

    The key dates are:

    • 1st July at 11:59pm: The competition will close to new projects
    • 31st July at 11:59pm: All crowdfunding will come to a close and judges will start to review the projects 
    • 8th September: The winners will be announced and will receive one of the 3 incredible prizes
    Do I have to pay Crowdfunder fees?

    Projects registered for the campaign and which meet the eligibility criteria will be eligible for 0% platform fees. However, transaction fees will still apply. See our fees page for more details

    What do I need to do to qualify for the competition?

    To be eligible for the prizes, you'll need to:

    • Be a female-led local business, social enterprise, community project, or brand new business idea
    • Raise at least £1,000 through your crowdfunding campaign
    • Receive pledges from at least 25 different backers
    • Show how your project is making a positive difference
    • Create an engaging project page and video
    How will the winners be chosen?

    Our judging panel, including representatives from both Crowdfunder and Muddy Stilettos, will review all qualifying projects based on:

    • The positive impact you're making
    • The strength of community support (measured by number of pledges)
    • Your social media engagement
    • The quality of your Crowdfunder project page and video
    Is there any additional funding available?

    We have over £10million in match funding grants available via +Extra funding to support your charity, community project or sports club. Find out more about +Extra funding on Crowdfunder.

    What do you mean by ‘female led’?

    To be eligible for the prize money you need to be a female founder, a 50% shareholder of an existing business or a female leader in your organisation or social enterprise.
