Project aim
We provide people with disabilities in Norfolk with the same social, leisure and learning opportunities that most of us take for granted
About the project
We all take for granted the fact that we can go out with friends and family, wherever and whenever we want, as long as we have the time and the money. an acticve social life is part of feeling good about ourselves. For people with disabilities, particulalrly learning disabilities, going anywhere can be scary, and many people don't have the friends and family networks with whom to share good times and bad.
At the BUILD Charity we provide over 300 social, leisure and learning opportunities each year to people aged 16 plus that range from outdoor farm visits and walks, and gardening projects, to spoprts activities, meals out and nightclub visits, as well as our Skills For Life programme that helps people live more independently.
This project helps us to ensure we have appropriately trained staff and volunteers to co-ordinate, administer and deliver this programme, allowing our beneficiaries to get the maximum out, in terms of fun, confidence and achievement.
You and I have friends and family, a social network built up over many years. Many of our people have been isolated by their disability. We have the chance to let them share what we take for granted.
