Help us share Caribbean tea traditions with herbal tea lovers around the world. After two years of selling in Grenada, we want to expand.

New stretch target

We've hit our target in just one week! Please keep pledging to get your hands on our delicious teas and to help us improve our production space in rural St Patricks, Grenada.

Herbal teas, straight from the West Indies

We're on a mission to share the goodness of the Caribbean's amazing plants. Bud & Root exists to connect health-conscious people like you with natural herbal teas that are designed to nurture and restore your sense of balance.

Since 2017 we've supplied boutique hotels, stores and wellness retreats on the tiny Caribbean island of Grenada with our unique blend of herbal cacao teas. But now we're looking to start a brand new business by bringing these goodies to the UK.

Deliciously nutritious

Organic cacao is the hero ingredient in all of our blends. Given its low caffeine content, it makes a perfect alternative to tea or coffee if you're looking to cut down on caffeine but still need a healthy pick me up drink during the day.

Cacao doesn't just taste divine, it's also a superstar among superfoods; it's packed nutrients such as iron, magnesium and zinc plus it's also a rich source of antioxidants too.

West Indian cocoa tea with a twist

This isn’t your typical over-sweetened and chemically-flavoured cup of hot cocoa. Imagine the rich and decadent aroma of a bar of fine dark chocolate captured in a drink. That’s somewhere close to our herbal blends but to be honest you just have to try it to feel just how good it is.

Despite its subtle flavour, our cacao brews contain plant-based stimulants which give you a natural pick me up that won’t leave you feeling wired. Thanks to its low-caffeine content it's also the perfect after-dinner drink as you wind down at the end of the day.

Championing direct trade

We'll use the money you pledge to source the finest ingredients directly from farmers in Grenada, also known as the Spice Isle, to give you farm-fresh tea blends that are truly a delight.

We also want to educate people on how they can take small, simple steps towards supporting their own wellbeing so, even if you're not into our products, you can still feel the benefits of what we do.

Supporting Caribbean Agriculture

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, which is why we trade directly with producers in the Caribbean so we can guarantee you total transparency about where your goods come from.

And by cutting out the middlemen we're able to support the artisans who are passionate about growing the very best produce which, in turn, means you get the finest ingredients in each and every cup.

Allspice/Pimento (Pimenta dioica)

Spicy, complex and uplifting; the leaves of this plant, which is the star ingredient in jerk seasoning, make for a delightful tea.

Barbados Sage (Lippia alba)

A fragrant and delicious herbal tea noted for its relaxing properties.

Black Sage (Cordia globosa)

A staple in any traditional West Indian pantry. A robust, grassy aroma with a delicate taste. Used for menstrual cramps and colds.

Cerasee/ Coraila (Momordica charantia)

It’s not called bitter gourd in the Caribbean without cause but older folks swear by this healing herb.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)

Considered by the ancients to be one of the most important aromatic spices available.

Ginger (Zingiber Officinale)

A vibrant plant to stimulate the senses, no wonder its one of the most favoured herbal teas in the world.

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus)

With its distinctive fragrant aroma, lemongrass is brilliant at taming aching tu

Moringa (Moringa oleifera)

Moringa has been used for centuries thanks to its reputed medicinal properties and health benefits. Some say it’s cooling, others that it’s spicy hot. Try it yourself to judge.

Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata)

A sweet and delicate tea with floral undertones, passionflower is a well-known sedative that’s an ideal ally for those struggling with the symptoms of anxiety or insomnia.

Sorrel/Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa)

Tart and tangy yet deeply invigorating. Traditionally consumed cold in the Caribbean but we think you’ll agree it makes for a delightful tea.

Soursop (Annona muricata)

Love the soursop (also known as guanabana)? Discover the tea brewed from the leaves of the soursop tree. With a warm, sweet yet distinctly fruity flavour.

Turmeric/Saffron (Curcuma longa)

Drinking turmeric tea is believed to bring about several benefits and when blended with other spices such as ginger, cloves and cinnamon, this plant makes a deliciously nutritious base for a chai tea!
