Brooke School Play Area

The Refurbishment of the Play Area at Brooke VC CofE Primary School, Norfolk, UK

We did it!

On 22nd Jun 2015 we successfully raised £4,365 of £3,500 target with 58 supporters in 42 days

New stretch target

Wow, we are so excited to have reached our initial target of £3,500 so our children WILL be getting their new Play Area - thanks to your help through Corwdfunder. With an extra £2,000 however we would be able to fund additional climbing equipment and robust surfacing. Please spread the word: #FundBrookeSchlPlayArea

Our New Play Area

With your help we did it! Thank you to everyone who supported our fund-raiser. Contractors were hard at work over the summer holidays to install the new equipment including super weather-proof surfacing too. As you can see the pupils of Brooke VC CofE Primary School have been trying out their new play area and it's a big hit I can tell you. The School will be officially unveiling Brooke School Play Area at a 'Grand Opening' on Monday 19th October at 4pm. If you're in the area, why not come and join us.

Project Aim

We need to refurbish Brooke VC CofE Primary School's play area and replace all of the old and tired wooden play equipment and play area surface for the 125 pupils of our village school here in Norfolk, UK.

  1. Please support our fund-raising ... we only have 6-weeks to hit our target.
  2. PLEDGE YOUR CASH and choose your special THANK YOU 'REWARD' on the right hand side of this page >
  3. Then spread the word to your friends, family and business contacts via email and social media: #FundBrookeSchlPlayArea

This is Brooke VC CofE Primary School’s sole outdoor area. It consists of a tarmac playground at the front of the school and the wooden play area in the left hand corner near to the school gate.

Our Play Area

The play area is extremely popular with the children. Unfortunately it has been out of bounds since November 2014 due to a lack of drainage and the deterioration of the wooden climbing equipment. It is now unusable and in desparate need of replacement.

Located within the secure grounds of the school playground, it is the only physical activity space (other than the playground itself) that the children have to explore and let off energy. It includes a small garden and compost area which is used by the school’s gardening club, a willow tunnel and a series of climbing frames suitable across the age range of pupils (4 to 11 year old). The play area is small in terms of footprint and so each class is allocated one day in the school week to use it at play times. Before and after school children also use the area when supervised by their parents/carers.

What the money will be spent on

Our Crowdfunder appeal is part of our wider fund-raising to secure £21,000 in total. This amount will pay for the cost of replacing all of the of wooden climbing frame equipment in the school play area together with the installation of suitable drainage and re-surfacing in the form of bark mulch, grass and artificial turf.

About the School

Brooke VC CofE Primary School is a small primary school with approximately 125 pupils located in the village of Brooke in South Norfolk between Norwich and Bungay. The school building and its site date back to the 1800s and because of that, it has very limited external space for the children to use. The school is bordered on both sides and at the rear by housing which means the only outside space is the school playground and play area. We use every piece of outside space for the benefit of the children including the narrow alleyway at the side of the school which is our Early Years Foundation Stage outdoor learning space.

The PTFA is actively raising funds through the voluntary efforts of parents, carers, teaching staff and friends in the form of community events for our school play area. Brooke School PTFA’s Facebook page can be found at:
