Being able to make Brockley Open Studios happen again in 2019

by Brockley Open Studios in London, England, United Kingdom

Brockley Open Studio has been set up by the local artists in 1992. Every summer, it brings people out on to the leafy streets of Brockley, rekindling the sense of neighbourliness, renewing the ties of community, and celebrating the creativity in the area through our open studios which takes place in over 25-30 different locations in Brockley area. This innovative nature of our open house / studio trail has been imitated by many others in UK since.

Our artists, some of them are well regarded figure in the arts, who normally exhibits in Museums and galleries, but for this annual event they are presenting their art works mainly within the living environments of their homes and workshops. Our hope is to make art more accessible for those who would not normally consider visiting art galleries, Museums, and other cultural institutions, to appreciate high quality art works produced in their neighbourhood.

In 2019 we are hoping to develop our ethos of “Openness” in partnership with St. Peter's Church, Wickham Road as well as Aurora Options, and Caravan Arts. With the Open door policy at St. Peter’s Church for all people within the community to be able to come and visit group exhibition, and we are hoping to deliver workshops for local schools and people with learning disabilities, in conjunction with Aurora Options and Caravan Arts.

We are hoping our newly established branding/ design to be established over next few year's in people's mind through continuing to place banners in and around the area, and distributing leaflets as well as all the online profiling activities.
