50 years ago the shop owners of Broadstone got together to organise a Christmas parade, it was led by Father Christmas who arrived on a
tractor & trailer accompanied by the local Scouts, Brownies , Guides and other Broadstone organisations.
A Grotto was set up outside the Church in the centre of Broadstone and Father Christmas received gifts for distribution to less fortunate local children
in the Borough and was very well supported.
From this small beginning the Parade has grown through the years to what it is today.
The format of the parade hasn’t changed and to this day it has raised thousands of Pounds for local charities as well as bringing the community together to start the Christmas celebrations.
The parade has always been run by Broadstone Chamber of Trade but as of this year the organisation doesn’t exist anymore. The organising committee would love to keep this tradition alive, especially to celebrate the 50th Anniversary but we need to raise funds to do so.
