Bristol Palestine Film Festival, 2012
We did it
On 29th September 2012 we successfully raised £1,060 with 21 supporters in 60 days

The Bristol Palestine Film Festival - www.bristolpff.org.uk - is a community festival based in the South West of England. It is part of a growing international network of festivals which showcase a range of compelling and thought-provoking films and artistic works by established and emerging artists. The aim of our programme is to focus on the plurality of the Palestinian experience as illustrated through film and other art forms. We hope to provide a platform for Palestinian cinema, art and culture in the South West, whilst featuring works from international directors and artists which bring fresh perspectives on Palestine s economic, social, political and cultural life. We are yet to have secured financial backing for 2012. However, with £1000,00 we think we will be able to put together a successful and engaging programme. We are considering over twenty films shortlisted for selection (see below). Habibi | Susan Youssef 2011 Habibi, a story of forbidden love, is a fiction feature set in Gaza. Two students in the West Bank are forced to return home to Gaza, where their love defies tradition. Man without a Cellphone | Sameh Zoabi 2010 A humorous, sharp take on the social milieu of a Palestinian village inside Israel. Jawdat, a restless young concrete worker, just wants to have fun with his friends, talk on his cell phone and find love - a near impossible task in a place where politics and traditional values dominate. 5 Broken Cameras | Emad Burnat and Guy Davidi 2011 Palestinian farm laborer Emad has five video cameras, and each of them tells a different part of the story of his village's resistance to Israeli oppression.
