Bridgewater School Auto External Defibrillator
We did it
On 19th January 2017 we successfully raised £2,000 with 27 supporters in 56 days

We're raising money to provide a life saving Defibrillator for Bridgewater School and the surrounding community to help save lives.

Did you know that each year between 80,000 and 120,000 people suffer a cardiac arrest in a public place in the UK.

Cardiac arrest can affect anyone, even children. Speedy defibrillation saves lives.

Young people are at risk to Cardiac Arrest as their hearts are still growing and developing strength. They are also susceptable to a Cardiac Arrest followinga sharp blow to the chest usually during sports. We are fundraising in conjunction with our partners at Berkhamsted Raiders whose Girl's Football League is now based on our grounds.

The only definitive treatment for a victim of Cardiac Arrest is effective CPR and early defibrillation, which must be administered within 3-5 minutes following collapse, this boost survival chances from 6% to 74%.

We're supporting the SADS UK Big Shock campaign to put defibrillators into schools to save lives. We are raising money to provide a Defibrillator for Bridgewater School, Raiders Girls Football League and the surrounding community to ensure Safety for Team, Staff, Supporters and the Public in the unfortunate but frequent case of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

By having the Automated External Defibrillator available this can help cut the death toll no end!

The amount we're trying to raise is £2000, this will fund the equipment and initial training.

The equipment would be placed in an easy to reach location and as it is fully automatic, no specific training is needed to use it as the machine itself does most of the work. We would hope to never have to use it, but it would be a huge piece of mind for our staff, coaches, players and parents knowing that it is there should it ever be required in an emergency. It would also be registered with the local ambulance service in order to be available to the public in an emergency.

There is no doubting that a defibrillator can only be a good addition for our school and the local community.

Whether your donation is £5, £10 or more... every donation will be a massive contribution towards our goal of buying a defibrillator and helping to keep our community safe.

For every donation, there are rewards as our way of saying thank you. These include a certificate, a shout out on our Twitter feed, or your chance to have your name on our 'Thank You' board which will be on display at the school.

Anne Jolly; CEO SADS UK: "Everywhere is now equipped with a fire extinguisher, yet there is more chance of a cardiac arrest happening, than a fire breaking out. Many lives have already been saved by places already being equipped with an AED. If everyone follows suit even more lives can be saved."
