There has been a massive impact on peoples well being and mental health, there are many issues and problems with people especially the Vulnerable like our members in danger of becoming isolated. Panic buying has caused massive problems and children of those families that we support are suffering with no provision of free school meals having a massive impact when in normal circumstances they were already struggling to put food on the table.
The need to not be able to meet their friends and socialise is having a detrimental effect on the mental wellbeing of some of our more vulnerable members, there is fear and anxiety of the unknown, our families are even more vulnerable to Fraud and scams and the effect of not being able to see family and friends for the foreseeable future is affecting our members in many ways.
With the Government currently not being able to give us an indication of when things return to some form of normality it is difficult to predict what things will look like in 12 months time but we pray and hope that our members can be re-united sooner rather than later and we as a charity are putting together a plan to be able to provide food and safe contact to our members asap. Job losses for parents, physical and mental well being, economic issues as some of our families had Holidays planned, we as a Club had residential and sports camps planned which of course are all now cancelled and it has led to some of our members to ring me in tears. some members have lost friends and Family and were unable to say goodbye. It is a very unhappy increasingly anxious lonely time for us all. Many of our members are bored and putting on weight, stress confusion and anger coupled with fear of infection makes it a very scary time for us all at present.
The need for continued support during these unprecedented times for our small charity has become immense, I have had members in tears, many have no food on the table and more of our vulnerable members and their families are becoming more and more isolated. In the name of community spirit and as our charity is led by volunteers only now more than ever we are being called upon to support our members.
We are having to dig deep into our very little reserves to try and continue to support our members but it is becoming more and more difficult as we have no funding coming in at present. We desperately want to provide a service by providing hot and cold food parcels to our most vulnerable families and we want to and have started to provide safe contact through telephone calls, social media apps, video chats and social distancing activities but this is having a massive impact on both our finances and volunteer expenses.
With the Government currently not being able to give us an indication of when things return to some form of normality it is difficult to predict what things will look like in 3 months time but we pray and hope that our members can be re-united sooner rather than later and we as a charity are putting together a plan to be able to provide food and safe contact to our members asap.
We are in desperate need to provide Food and specialist IT Equipment for our members to be able to deliver our services whilst their is no face to face contact. Many of the families we support are from a poor background and unable to afford the equipment needed for us to provide the safe contact activities we now need to do online.
We want to combat Isolation and let our members know we are here for them, someone to talk to, someone they can interact with online, do activities online and help to support their mental health at this very difficult time.
As we are entirely reliant on volunteers the impact is going to be huge but they as is the rest of the country are united in trying to help so our members know there is someone there for them at this uncertain time, we can help provide the safe contact, deliver food parcels, help with shopping and dog walking etc in fact anything they require as we are all in it together.
We rely on goodwill and donations to survive and now more than ever it is needed desperately to be able to continue to deliver a different and more personal service to the families we support.
The benefits will be immense, improving well being, providing support, knowing someone is there for them, improving mental health, providing friendship and assistance and trying to allay fears of the unknown.
Our activities will help keep our members Healthy and Fit leading to increased positivity and general well being. We hope to get our members to set up a video diary so we can evaluate the difference our support has made once we all return to some form of normality.
Our main aim of focus is to support our already vulnerable members to help them put food on the table, stop isolation and provide the support and assistance needed at a very difficult and uncertain time for us all.
We may not have lots of money but what we do have is that community spirit needed right now to try and lift our members spirits and keep them mentally and physically well as best we can. We are adopting a targeted approach and need the money and equipment to be able to deliver this quickly which is why we are applying to you for your support please.
