What is Boo's Pantry and how did it start?
As many of you are aware we have been running our business, Boo's Pantry, since September last year when I bravely put all of my savings into purchasing a small amount of stock. This venture was born out of an idea to bring zero waste shopping to Mansfield after visiting similar stores in other areas for our own refills and plastic free shopping. So what is Zero Waste Shopping..?? As a zero waste shop our main aim is to reduce plastic consumption in in our community. Plastic is a convenient way to shop but we now know that ALL plastic ever created is still on the earth...bottles, nappies, wet wipes, toothbrushes...the list goes on and on. It is estimated that in 30 years time there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish, if we do not change our habits. At Boo's Pantry you can fill your own jars and bottles from our range of cleaning products and toiletries to help reduce the amount of plastic in circulation. All of our products are cruelty free and earth friendly!
It has been trial and error getting to this point but we now have secure relationships with well established suppliers of household products. We have accessed stock that is available to us on circular economy (every container I empty is returned and reused for other customers) meaning that Boo's Pantry does not generate plastic waste through bulk buying. As a recognized Social Enterprise Boo's Pantry will donate profits generated to local charities with like minded goals.
Several months of operating from home, offering a weekly refill session, has been a great way of gaining an insight into the level of interest locally. The social media response has been amazing with over 1,000 people liking and following my pages. There are so many like minded people in the local area who have created a great customer base and a developing community through my Facebook community page.
What will we do with the money?
Our vision to further develop Boo's Pantry is to raise funds that will enable us to establish a permanent base away from home, meaning easier accessibility and longer opening hours. I'd like to further invest in necessary items to raise awareness of environmental issues by taking Boo's Pantry into the community in the form of a pop up mobile shop. We aim to create an opportunity for plastic free shopping to be accessible to all by offering low cost, quality products from our pantry! For us this is about our planet not about ££’s
Please pledge what you can, every £ really will be a massive help and don't forget that Natwest are £ for £ matching my efforts!
What do you get for supporting?
We will give you thank you presents. Plastic free of course! Zero waste goodie bag with a sample of what we're selling, loyalty cards, thank you letters and an invitation to a special opening day event!
I can't pledge money, but how can I support?
Share our crowdfunding page on Facebook and Instagram, talk about us to friends and family!
From the bottom of our hearts, and the community of Mansfield, thank you for believing in this project, for believing in me and trusting me to make this happen.
