The Bank of England ignored a 140,000 name petition calling on them to stop using animal parts in their bank notes. They have since ignored the results of their own consultation, overwhelmingly in favour of not using animal products in these notes. Many people cannot use these notes without breaching their deeply held ethical or religious beliefs. The notes contain parts of a cow, which is unacceptable for vegans, vegetarians, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and others. There is no other item that is forced upon us that we have no vegan alternative to. The Bank is acting in direct contravention of our human rights and as such I want to challenge them.
