To create a place for young people to come in and talk to mentors, be free, study and mainly getting the youth off the streets.

by Kemi Kentebe in London, England, United Kingdom

When I was younger I had the opportunity to go to a youth centre by my house. Got to know different people from different places and it really helped me come out of my shell. When it all closed down I was gutted and didn’t know what to do, so I was always in my room and isolated myself.

I chose to isolate myself while others unfortunately got into the streets and things took a turn for the worse for them.

I vowed to open a youth centre when I was older to prevent this from happening. Now hearing what is going on in the world with the young people either being killed or killing each other, even loosing their lives to bullying this is what needs to be stopped or controlled.

Also the fact that I have a lot of young people that surround me from church and community I hear them say there is nothing for them to do, especially in this pandemic we are in.

We will be following COVID rules whilst executing this project in April.

This will hopefully not be a one day or one year project we hope to get a permanent building to call our home and for young persons to feel grounded.
