Our vision is to promote the game of crown green bowls and sustain our club into the future. We recognised that to retain and grow our membership we needed to provide fit for purpose facilities to change and shelter / communal areas as well as adequate toilet facilities. Over 2 years we have sourced funding and grants and now have our new changing facility and multi-sex and accessible toilets.
We see this as a start and can now really kick on and maximise the use of our club and facilities to ensure that as many members of the local community as possible take up crown green bowls and/or use our facilities.
Bowls is a gentle non-contact sport that all ages can play together and suitable for people who cannot participate in more physical sports. Bowls provides low-impact therapeutic exercise, is proven to improve fitness, improves coordination, increases confidence and enhances mental wellbeing.
Membership of a local club provides opportunities for social interaction and the ability to develop new friendships and support networks via fellow club members. We want to work with groups, health and care workers and organisations who can help us promote our offer to appropriate groups and/or individuals.
We want to introduce groups to our club and our new facilities, we can now meet and socialise as a club all year round.
In 2020 our plan is to deliver a range of Try Bowls Make Friends events;
Try Bowls and Coffee morning events open to all
- Regular Try Bowls – afternoon or evening open sessions
- Try Bowls sessions – arranged sessions for specific groups or individuals
- Try Bowls Open Days - open to all
