Our annual, colourful community street festival takes over the town of Whitchurch, Shropshire on 7th October again this year for the 10th time! Offering street theatre, dance, five stages of music, street performers, displays and stalls from people in OUR community, then bringing it all together with the Carnival of Plenty!
It's a day to chill out in town with sofas on the street, food and drink, music from riot jazz to steel pan and folk, and a range of world-class performers. This magical festival has something for everyone from 0 to 100, and it's completely FREE!!
A big part of the Blackberry Fair ethos is showing positive action, as we know this has a knock-on effect! 10 years ago our aim was to create an event to revitalise our High Street. We've approached groups from every corner of our community to take part and it's what makes Blackberry Fair a festival about OUR town. To delight and entertain we've also brought some incredible acts including Ski Band, Motion house, Electric Swing Circus and Steve Pottinger, to name but a few, and we want to bring you MORE! We want this 10th year to be the best and have sourced some brilliant creative talent to visit our town.
Blackberry Fair is run by a small team of volunteers! and financed by kind donations, local business support and a handful of small grants. Many acts perform for reduced rate or free as they recognise the value of community. Whilst these endeavours allow the event to be completely free on the day, it actually costs more than £20,000 to bring it to the streets of Whitchurch.
Please help us to create a really special day for us all to remember by donating whatever you can..... it's you, me, us and a big smile!
"When we first moved to Whitchurch and went to our first Blackberry Fair Street Festival, we were completely blown away by the scale, the quality and the excitement of the event ... it was so unexpected to find such a brilliant event in what we thought was a sleepy market town!! Every year we go, and every year we're impressed all over again!"
