Black Country Type's working method involves cycles around the Black Country taking photographs using his camera phone. The ‘Type’ element of his work refers to typography – words, signs and letters in the Black Country. Yet it also refers “types” of building, features and scenes in the region.
Some of the images are presented on the Instagram page @blackcountrytype and feature in publications such as Fused magazine and Area guide. The work celebrates the hidden and unique aesthetics of the Black Country and has proved popular with a wide range of people, including people from the Black Country, local history enthusiasts, graphic designers, photographers and creative writers.
A book of Black Country Type's images is being produced, to include some images exclusive to the publication, which will be launched in September alongside an exhibition of key images from the project.
There are a range of rewards available ranging from postcards to limited edition hard back copies of the book, which will be available to buy at local retailers from September. The soft cover option measures 18x18cm.
Postcard sets will feature the first 5 images below. All 6 images are available as prints (the bottom image is a printed grid of 9 images) - please specify which you would like to receive when you select your reward.
