Who am I??
My name is Grant Nicol and I have lived in Murieston since 1989 and in all of that time, we have only briefly had a small bakery business as somewhere to eat, drink and meet but that was the early to mid nineties.
My vision is to provide Murieston with a much needed sit in and take away Café in fitting with the local surroundings and community. I have many ideas which I will endeavour to make happen which should see the customers really be at one with the nature around our Cafe. I plan to offer a variety of delicious food and snacks along with freshly brewed coffees and other speciality drinks.
What will the funds raised be used for???
I plan to use the money to assist in taking a bare shell building to a warm, cosy, stylish and comfortable artisan style cafe and take away where all locals and visitors can be proud of and enjoy visiting day in day out.
Murieston is a large suburb of Livingston and growing at a fast rate and currently has nowhere for our locals to meet friends for good food and drink. I am conscious that there are a lot of people who would benefit from somewhere nearby to socialise and meet other local people. I also feel that we could serve the people who walk or run round our beautiful trails by offering a place in a central location to refresh and recharge. The commuters who use the busy railway station to get their quality caffeine fix for their journey, even if travelling at 6.30am! The elders in our community who may suffer from social isolation. The dog walkers....yes your dog will have their own menu and I plan to have a dedicated area for this also.....the list goes on and on.
To Sum Up...
I want to provide everyone with somewhere they can enjoy informal dining with good quality food and drinks available and reasonable cost. I have an executive chef with over 35 years of experience running kitchens which provide great food and baking and I also plan to employ local people of all ages. I want to offer day/week release opportunities for the talented and award winning students at West Lothian College to come and hone their culinary skills in our kitchen. With the help of you, our local community and local businesses, I aim to make this idea a reality and have our doors open some time in mid 2020.
