Continue to support Maslow's & Birds with Words.

Maslow's is a volunteer run community shop in Govan, Glasgow. They provide free clothing, household goods, food and English classes to asylum seekers, refugees and people experiencing hardship within the local community. At the start of the Covid19 pandemic, asylum seekers living in Home Office accommodation, provided by the private company Mears Group, were moved into cramped hotels in the Glasgow, city centre. These people faced horrible conditions, and along with allied organisations, have been campaigning for their removal. As of recently, this has been successful, but even so, people are still suffering the consequences of this move. Maslow’s has been working to support those in hotel detention by providing ASDA vouchers, craft packs, clothing and toiletries. They need £7000 to continue running their ASDA voucher scheme which supports families across the city and within the hotels.

Birds with Words is an international arts collective who run open mics to showcase women, trans, and non-binary performers in Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Since the pandemic we have been hosting online open mics, artist features and now we're bringing you our very first festival! Join us from your very own computer screen for a whole host of creative workshops (taking place on zoom) and instagram live takeovers throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.

As a collective we are committed to paying the creatives we work with. For this festival we were very lucky to receive a small amount of funding from Creative Scotland from their Nurturing Young Talent fund which has enabled us to pay our artists, workshop facilitators, and organisers. We will split the profits of this fundraiser 50/50 with Maslow's to enable us to continue this commitment in the future.
