Beyond Food Foundation
24th March 2020UPDATE: NEW FOCUS
We are so grateful for the support we have received so far. Thank you all so much.
This support has allowed us to:
- Provide over 3,500 meals in three days to vulnerable people
- Gather food for 2,000 additional meals
- Source another 5,000 meals which have been sent directly to our charity partners
- Supply 20 different organisations supporting vulnerable people, including Veterans Aid, Age UK, St Mungos, Pecan Food Bank, City Harvest and White Chapel Mission.
However, we now must adopt a new strategy in response to government advice and the subsequent closure of our partner restaurant Brigade Bar + Kitchen. We will continue to support shelters, hostels and food banks by connecting them remotely with food manufacturers and businesses with surplus and unused food.
We will also be setting up a support line for our network of hundreds of graduates of our Fresh Life programme, apprentices and others who may be heading towards vulnerable situations as they face losing their jobs, workplaces and routines.
Many individuals we work with are isolated from their communities, although they do not fit into the current definition of "vulnerability" as interpreted during COVID-19. We will raise awareness and support for them, lobbying our governments to ensure they are not forgotten during this period of lockdown.
If you have time, please do continue to support and share our work with your network.
We will issue regular updates and hope to provide ways which you can get involved in our mission if you so wish.
Thank you,
Simon Boyle & the Beyond Food team
