Berkswell and Balsall RFC is a small rugby club that serves the local community and in a relatively small area provides fitness, coaching, friendship and above all enjoyment to hundreds of people every weekend. The club is fully self financed and runs 2 senior teams, a Colts (under 18) team, a ladies touch team and has an mini and junior section with over 250 children playing every weekend.   We have taken the step to launch a crowdfunding campaign to help the club bridge the financial chasm caused by the Coronavirus pandemic – our biggest fundraiser “Party on the Pitch “ has unfortunately had to be cancelled and this has led to a big hole in our finances for the coming 12 months.

We also rely on sponsorship from a number of local companies which we are always very thankful for however given the financial circumstances that many of these companies find themselves in, it remains to be seen if they will be able to continue their valued support.

Over the past 12 months the club has been on a steep upward trajectory, with the 1st XV achieving promotion, all other senior teams reaching cup finals and the mini junior section continuing to attract more numbers and raise the quality of the coaching and atmosphere to make rugby enjoyable. The club have also progressed massively off the pitch with significant revenue being spent on the pitches and also storage and catering facilities. The mini and junior coaching teams have also been successful in taking rugby to several local schools and promoting the club in the wider community

We do have a programme of work scheduled that will enable the club to be used in the wider community – some of the projects include the expansion of the kitchen and catering facilities, further development of the playing surfaces, replacement of double glazing and the redevelopment of the changing facilities to provide additional changing rooms for ladies and mini and juniors.. However at the present time with no revenue coming into the club, the crowdfunding campaign has been launched to pay the bills, maintain the club and grounds in preparation for next season and at some point we hope to be able to kick off some of these projects. Already club members have been providing labour to maintain the club and grounds during lockdown but the crowdfunding campaign will help make a difference.

We aim to recognise all those that contribute and all individuals that use the club are extremely grateful for any donations.
