Background

Back in June 2018, a group of five 13 year olds got together with Paula from AccessArt to start working on an  animation. The teenagers, from a Secondary School in Cambridgeshire, all enjoy being creative in the physical or digital world. The aim has been for them to combine their skills, and to produce an animation which would inspire other teenagers to think and act creatively. The message to the world, is that it is vital that we invest in teenage creativity, and that young people themselves recognise that their creativity is important; socially, personally and economically.

The group (#BeACreativeProducer) have been meeting up after school and at weekends to create their animation,  which is an exciting combination of all their skills: dance, music, making, art and drama in the physical world, and sound composition, editing and image manipulation in the digital world.

Some Clips So Far...

The Finished Animation

The animation will be launched at Cambridge Junction on the 28th February 2019  where the team will present their work during a celebratory event, as well as lead workshops with school groups during the day.

In addition to the animation, we have created a dedicated website for the project: http://www.BeACreativeProducer.org where the final animation will be posted.

Why Are We Fundraising and Asking For Your Help?

We Want to Involve Others!

We realise that not everyone is as lucky as we have been to work alongside AccessArt, and as a team, to collaborate and bring out the best in each other creatively. Making the animations together has been the prefect way to share skills and learn from each other. For example one person leads the making, another the animation, another the sound track... and all our skills have been useful at different points.

We wanted to find a way we could encourage other young people to work as small teams across the country to create their own animations, towards a larger project. So we came upon the idea of a competition which we hope will encourage 11 to 16 year olds to join us.

"The World Needs Your Creativity" Competition

"The World Needs Your Creativity!" Competition has now been launched! Watch the video below to find out more and visit:  https://www.accessart.org.uk/competition/

Money raised by this CrowdFunder will be used to buy voucher prizes for prize winners.

Workshops at the Launch Event

The teenagers will be leading workshops during the day at the launch event in Cambridge, to share their skills and inspire others. The workshops will be aimed at children aged 10 and 11.

Money raised by this CrowdFunder will be used to cover the costs of these workshops.

A Webspace in Which Teenagers can Be Inspired to Make and Share their Own Animations...

Longer term, the #BeACreativeProducer team would like to further develop the website into a place where teenagers can make animations about issues which they care about, and submit and share them via the site. We hope it will be a very powerful place to help give teenagers find their voice, and invest in their creativity!

Any additional money raised by this CrowdFunder will be used to buy voucher prizes for future Calls & Competitions on the BeACreativeProducer website.
