Hello, let me start by giving you a quick backstory about my dad, Barry.
Barry is 73 years old this year, but has the mentality of a 21 year old. But this doesn't mean his physical state is that of one.
My dad is a very uplifting character, a long-winded joke teller, only fools and horses character and a man of the world he likes to call himself. However, behind this persona is a man with a great deal of health issues.
My dad has suffered with prostate cancer for the past 5 years, which has hugely impacted his life through multiple surgeries during this time. Not only this, after two knee replacements, every year Barry suffers with frequent and severe gout episodes in his knees leaving him in extreme pain unable to walk for days.
Not only this, the past couple of months my dad has been unable to feel sensations in his feet, meaning more hospital appointments and potentially more diagnosis.
What I want to do for my dad, is install a wet room in his flat, as he only has a bath now making it very difficult for him to perform an everyday action such as washing. He has tried to go through the council time and time again for the past two years to get a wet room installed and has expressed how the pain of climbing in and out of the bath is very severe. However, the council have demanded that this is not an urgent case as he can still walk, but he isn't walking into the bath, he has to climb in with great difficulty.
I'm asking for donations to help me help him and make his life easier and painless so he can perform an everyday action such as washing and put a huge smile on his face. If I could afford this I would have done it by now, however we are not fortunate enough to have this type of money.
Once the target is met (hopefully) I will post before and after pictures of the bathroom and a picture of my dad with a big smile on his face. If I get a quote cheaper than the target I'm aiming for, I will donate the rest of the money to Prostate Cancer UK in the name of this fundraiser and post confirmation once donation is complete.
On behalf of myself and my dad, thank you.
