Barn Renovation into a music and event venue

by Peter and Julie in Châteauroux

The funds raised will purchase, reroof and renovate the barn to provide a venue for music, arts and workshops, and for our 2019 Festival.

We did it
On 10th June 2018 we successfully raised £1,050 with 23 supporters in 28 days

After hosting a green, festival inspired eco-wedding in 2017, we were inspired and enthused to hold a small 'non for profit' music, food and art festival in 2019 that will support local talent (something we have dreamed of for decades).
The tipis and tents, solar showers and compost toilets organised for the wedding have enabled the dream of holding workshops to share our sustainable lifestyle and knowledge to a wider range of people.

The barn (part of the ensemble of buildings that form the farm) does not belong to us , but was graciously loaned by the owner for use throughout the wedding weekend. It felt so right during this time that the barn was opened up and that all the buildings were once again reunited and part of the whole again. Many people remarked on this and questioned why the barn had been separated and the spark of the idea of reuniting the barn to the property has kindled this campaign. The addition of the barn would really widen what we have to offer in terms workshops, a venue for music and events, a space for woodworking, preserving, sausage and cheese making as well as allowing our fledgling artisanàl micro-brewery to  take flight.

The funds from the crowdfunder will allow us to purchase the barn and start work on renovations in preparation for our first non profit festival, which we invite you to be a part of.

If you are considering a 'get away' holiday then please consider staying at our cottage which is set on 3 acres of organic and sustainable farmland. The little stone cottage is cool in Summer and cosy in Winter - no TV, no phone, no noise and no light pollution!

We are situated deep in Central France at its most rural and unspoilt at the foot of the Massif Central. Known as "le pays de bleu et vert"- the land of blue and green - for good reason. They are surrounded by ancient hedgerows and woodland dotted around with lakes and ponds that reflect the blue skies, and encircled by streams and rivers-a natural wildlife paradise! Guests have access to the whole of the cottage and can wander around our gardens and explore the beautiful area by foot or bike.
You will receive a hamper full of local and homemade treats as well as a meal cooked by your hosts Peter and Julie using organic ingredients that have been grown on the farm.choose a workshop from spoon-carving, cheese-making, food preserving, making herbal balms and yarn spinning.
