THE COMPANY & EDINBURGH FRINGE

BareWater Productions was started up by two students, Ben Rivers and Ally Arnold, in Liverpool at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in hope of showcasing New Writing and creating opportunity for young new talent and creatives to have voice in their work and develop strong new pieces together.

Ben Rivers met new writer Mell Flinn in summer 2017 at the Edinburgh Fringe festival and when reading through a piece she had written about a 'Psycho Anonymous Meeting' began to develop ideas of taking it to the Fringe in 2018. However, BareWater Productions grown as lot this year and is aiming to further develop the team, skills and quality of productions by experiencing the  Edinburgh Fringe.

The production team, cast and crew (all students) have become a tight knit group of individuals that work collaboratively with one another from the very beginning to the end of the production process. In terms of values, the fringe festival fits everything the company is aiming to become, including: immersive, comedic, non-for-profit and creation of northern new writing. It is not only a chance to showcase new writing (which lies in our aims as a company as well), but also a chance to network and create new contacts for future productions.

This project is a chance for BareWater to develop into a stronger, more well-connected and ultimately an experienced and trusted company. Artistically, it will be an opportunity to develop ideas within Augmented Reality theatre (with the Sound and Lighting Design) and a piece that is new northern writing. The BareWater slogan is “Be Brave. Be Bare. Love What You Do.” This is a relevant motto to follow for the Fringe as it will be a big step for the company but being brave and loving what you do is the most effective way to get where you want to go.

THE SHOW:

‘The Meeting’ follows Chris, Julian, Andrew and Lisa on their journey through the “Psycho’s Anonymous” meetings for a murder that has taken place as we learn about the real people behind our quick assumptions. This dark comedy is written by Mell Flinn and is her debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a new writer.

The piece tackles a unique mental health issue and follows the journey one goes through with being a 'psychopath'. It can also be strongly connected to other mental health problems.

Please check out our show on the Edinburgh Fringe Website, along with the printed programmes that will be available during the fringe festival and in many stores across the country.
