To recognize the work of community champions as well as the economic impact and to increase entrepreneurship in the young generation.

by Diversity Business Incubator in Plymouth, Devon, England

A city with a lot of talents, skills, business minded people and thriving business people who have put time, skills passion and effort to contribute to the local economy. But perhaps have not been recognized and have not been receiving the right support to excel their success and capitalize on their revenue to support people around them.

Diversity Business Incubator was launched a year ago with also the goal of not just supporting prospective entrepreneurs, but by also recognizing and saying thank you to all the existing businesses who have contributed to the local economy. Show gratitude to those individual entrepreneurs who must be told that the community and society they live in appreciate them and what they do.

Among last year’s winners, for the Rosa Park Award, we recognized Neeru Meswania founder of the veggei-perrins whose business has been going for over 20 years. A business that sticked with their core value of providing healthy and vegetarian food. A business that even survived normal challenges faced by entrepreneurs and even all the economic challenges all these years. She rose a family, took her family through journeys, yet she has been there day and night cooking and providing food served to thousands of customers. She was recognised at the first BAME Business Awards and we believe that a simple gesture of saying thank you could contribute to keep her passion alive and keep going.

Many other inspirational entrepreneurs were also recognized among them Toby Gorniak from street factory who has been a true inspiration for the city and mostly young people. Mehdi Tahiri owner and restaurateur at fuels who has supported many charities over the years including once serving free food to a crowd of over 900 people in 3 hours. Recognizing them is also inspiring many other people out there with the potential and passion to add to our local economy.

The BAME Business Award is one key element of the work that DBI delivers in the city. Nurturing business ideas, mentoring potential entrepreneurs cannot be done without recognizing the existing accomplishment. Your support will keep this philosophy alive.

Your support will also go an extra mile and will contribute to the work we will be delivering throughout 2019. We will start by the commitment we have made for all our awards winners to deliver free workshops in schools, give talks to the public in organized events aimed at inspiring young people providing one to one support at the incubation center. Our incubation centre aims to nurture ideas that can give Plymouth more inspirational entrepreneurs and for that, they need to be inspired by those who have done it well, with success and with the right values.

DBI are ambassadors for growth in the city, from local people who we believe have what it takes to become effective and consistent contributor to the local economy. A strong local economy creates jobs with immediate impact in our schools, youth centres, health centres and of course happy residents for happier neighborhood. That’s our goal and ambition. Help us achieve that goal by making a modest contribution.
