To raise awareness of Prematurity and make Premature Baby Essentials more accessible to babies and their families

by Alexandra Chetwynd in Brinscall, England, United Kingdom

I want to introduce everyone to our miracle girl, Clara Patricia Rose. On the 25th of May 2017 our lives changed forever. My wife went into labour at 6.28pm just 27 weeks and 5 days. She lost a scary amounts of blood and before the paramedics got to us she estimated to have lost well over a litre of blood. We were rushed to hospital where they gave her an ultrasound expecting to find that our baby girl had passed away due to lack of oxygen but her heartbeat was going strong so they rushed my wife into theatre to attempt to save them both. Alex collapsed in theatre due to blood loss so I didn't get to be with her and watch our daughter come in to this world but she was born weighing a tiny 2lb 4 ounces at 10.03pm. The surgeon later revealed that she had a blood clot behind the placenta that had burst causing major placenta abruption. I nearly lost them both that night and they are both lucky to be alive. Clara spent 14 weeks in neonatal and Alex suffered with extreme post natal depression due to being separated from our baby girl for so long and post traumatic stress after the birth. 23 months later and our little girl is not so little.  She is a crazy, happy, adventures little girl who brightens our lives every single day. She inspired Baby Steps. Alex is currently working alongside the Prince's Trust to launch her very own brand of premature clothing. She is just about to place our very first order with a manufacturer and hopes to be selling her designs within a few weeks. She has created over 100 designs for boys and girls, with every piece perfectly created for the neonatal journey and premature miracles. Her designs are made to make the hardest journey a parent will probably ever go through that little bit easier by encouraging bonding, a stronger relationship and spreading motivation to get through. Thank you so much for all the support we have already recieved it means the world to us and more. If we can make a difference to just one life we know our work is worthwhile. Thank you
