We have recently signed new terms on a lease for our brand new bereavement hub prior to he COVID-19 Pandemic, this has resulted in all fundraising events being cancelled, unfortunately this is the only way we are currently funded. We now need to look for alternative ways to raise funds in these unprecedented times. The below is the plan for the new bereavement hub and how we look at supporting bereaved families and their families through child loss.
The Ava Marie Foundation is a registered charity ( Charity No 1183998) providing support and memory boxes free of charge to parents and families who have lost a child through neonatal death, miscarriage, stillbirth and medical termination. We also support those parents who have or who are pregnant with a child with a life limiting condition.
The Ava Marie foundation was launched as a legacy in memory of our Beautiful daughter, Ava-Marie who died in July 2018 at 11 days old from a rare condition called Anencephaly. Since launching we have provided hundreds of memory boxes throughout the UK, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and are going from strength to strength.
So, you may be wondering why we have made an appeal to raise £10,000, we have amazing plans for 2020 which will not only build upon the foundations which we currently have but will allow us to expand the services we can offer to berevaed parents and families.
- We understand the importance of parents being supported through child loss, thats why we want to introduce a team of doulas who will support parents every step of the way through child loss throughout the North West providing emotional and physical support to parents.
- We want to be able to provide free one to one sessions with parents and family members both before, during and after child loss, providing group sessions and bereaved sibling play sessions.
-Allowing us the extra space to produce our memoryboxes which we provide free of charge and allowing us to bulk purchase so that we benefit from the extra savings.
-Will allow us the space (Pending permission and licence) to provide a space for the care of a deceased child where parents and families can make memories with their child with the use of a cuddle cot or snuggle blanket in a space similar to a chapel of rest but with a more relaxed atmosphere and the ability to make memories with their child.
We have a premises in Newton-le-Willows that would be suitable to meet our objectives and the rent is discounted to £10,000 per year, we would be exempt from business rates and all other expenses would be met by the charity as it is currently.
Our plan would be to have a grand opening where the community could celebrate the opening of the the Ava Marie Foundation Child Bereavement Hub, find out more about us and learn about volunteering with us. Everyone who donates would be added to a brass plaque which would be on the wall in the entrance.
