Imagine walking the cliff path in Cornwall and listening to the remembrances of those whose names are on the memory benches; exploring a graveyard and listening to the stories behind the names on the headstones; running your favourite route and knowing that a super motivational song will always play when you reach that killer hill. All of these are possible using Audioroam.
I discovered the potential of what is called locative audio when completing my final project for my Masters degree at Falmouth University. For it I created an ‘audio roam’ of the headland at Pendennis Point in Falmouth. As you walk around the headland you hear memories of Falmouth from the ‘Cornish Memory Project’ archive as well as original music, which I composed. The walk is a truly immersive experience. I want everybody to have the opportunity to create their own Audioroam easily. Working with a developer I have now built the Audioroam app and it will soon be available for Apple and Android. The money I receive from this Crowdfunder will be used to build the website that allows anyone to make their own soundwalk quickly and easily.
Thank you to everyone who makes a contribution. It is very much appreciated!
