As we celebrate our Nikah during a global pandemic, it's really got us thinking about how fortunate we are to have such abundance. An abundance of love, kindness and generosity from all our friends and family and abundance in sustenance and blessings from Allah, The Most Kind, The Most Loving. Those of you who know us will know that COVID has given us the unique opportunity to plan the wedding we've both always wanted; small, intimate and no faff. Alhamdulillah!
We wanted to use our Nikah as an opportunity to help couples in Bangladesh celebrate their weddings in dignity and style. Every year Shoomi's family support a number of families in Bangladesh with wedding costs. For families in Bangladesh, weddings are sacred acts of dignity and honour and this pandemic has meant many people won't be able to afford to fulfil such a special act.
Instead of sending us gifts, we would like to ask our friends and family to help us gift weddings in Bangladesh. Our family will ensure that all marriages are between consenting adults aged 21 and over.
