Since our creation in 2016, Thomas Page Dances focuses on exploring socio-political ideas in movement to push the boundaries of contemporary art and encourage a positive change in the world. As an emerging company we need support from a range of places including grants, performance fees, in-kind support and donations from generous supporters such as yourself!
Aporia is the latest project of Thomas Page Dances which brings together a collective of contemporary artists to create a visceral production.
Working with four dancers, one actor, a set designer, costume designer, lighting designer and composer this project will explore the socio-poltical issues related to the human condition during conflict. More specifically at the paradoxical relationship between peace and conflict. By questioning the topic through the many performative elements we will aim to create a viscerally engaging production allowing the topic to become more universal and therefore also more inclusive.
Your donation will financially support the creation and development of this work ensuring that all artists involved are able to be paid for their time, effort and product. Including the creation and recording of a unique score, the design and manufacturing of our set from an emerging set designer, and the original costume design from our exciting costume designer. All of our artists are in the early stages of their careers, because we champion collaboration across all art forms and this project is a point of personal growth for all involved, with a shared passion for innovation. Your support will also enable us to extend our outreach elements associated with the project including workshops for professional dance artists, choreographic labs for young dance artists, as well as open classes for the wider community, adults and children alike, for those with a passion for movement
The project is already supported by the following organisations, but we still need your help to fully realise our vision!
Studio Wayne McGregor - FreeSpace Programme
Oxford Playhouse - Residency Support
Oxford Dance Forum - Evolution Support for Research and Development
The Place - Resolution Festival 2019
Arts at The Old Fire Station - Partner
