Autism on the Water (AOTW) is a registered charity based from Edinburgh in Scotland. It is an awareness charity to help promote the awareness of the autistic spectrum through the sport of Sailing. In previous years AOTW has travelled the country with its own yacht - a Hunter 707 sports boat to some of the countries biggest regattas to raise awareness. But our primary aim is to encourage autistic people to access sailing and we have helped young people access our programme through trips on the Crinan Canal on the west coast of Scotland, also taking young people for short sailing trips and also delivery trips between regattas. The opportunities provide and increase Social skills, Confidence Skills and Problem Solving Skills, three skills that are very difficult for autistic people to achieve in life. We believe that Sailing and boating, in general, can achieve these skills more easily.

AOTW had many plans for 2020 which have all sadly been either postponed or cancelled due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. We have been very fortunate to still have the continued commitment of our loyal sponsors and supporters but we have understandably not pushed them into giving their sponsorship for now until the Pandemic has reached a more manageable situation.

We have set up this Crowdfunding Page to raise funds to assist AOTW during this time. We have used the lockdown to do a lot of behind the scenes work for the charity and we have developed a 50-50 plan for 2021 which is to create equal opportunity between raising awareness at regattas and providing opportunity and funding for autistic people to access Sailing and Boating. We have also recruited a new team for our racing yacht who have either connections or relatives on the autistic spectrum and in addition to this, we have also recruited a volunteer media person who will be bringing AOTW's media in both film and photography to a whole new light!

Your support will help enable AOTW to start planning for its exciting future as well as help provide training to both our crew and volunteers in learning more about how autism affects people and how best to support them through sailing.

Thank you all for your support of AOTW as we "Sail into a brighter future".
