Anahata Yoga Centre is a project born out of a desire to offer a heart centred nurturing place in which our growing community can feel safe and supported to practice Yoga, Pilates, Yoga Therapy and Mindful Meditation.
Classes in our current space are filled with no further room for growth. With more space we can offer increased comfort and a wider range of classes. Reaching out and affecting many more people in our community. Our current room size fits just 6 students, our new space can accommodate approximately 18.
We offer expert tuition led by qualified and specialist professionals, who are experts in their field. Many of our teachers offer skills which support members of the public affected by long term health conditions, which may affect them physically, mentally and or emotionally. Founders, Dawn Lister and Daniel Groom are advocates of supporting people’s wellbeing within the community. "We see the expansion of the business as a way to offer greater support in the Southend-on-Sea area."

Why would you support our project?
Anahata, our heart centered wellbeing studio has grown out of close to three decades experience both professionally and personally. Having lived with, and supported both family and clients with depression, anxiety and mental health conditions, Dawn and Daniel have experienced first hand the amazing transformative power of a mindful, compassion led yogic practise. It is possible not just to survive, you can in fact thrive despite experiencing the many challenges that modern life delivers.
It is our hope that our beautiful space, created with love, thought and mindful attention will offer a place where all of our clients and community can feel safe and nurtured. Whoever you are, whatever is going on in your world we offer a place that supports you and allows you to find peace and community at a time when you may be feeling vulnerable or confused.
How will we use your donations?
To enable us to offer community based classes, workshops and events, including we hope some outreach work in the community we require a little support to help us over our beginning months.
Any financial support we receive will go towards providing the much needed equipment that makes all the difference to a person whose mobility is restricted, or who needs to feel physically supported and safe.
It will also allow us to offer a regular free daytime class to the community so that anyone who wishes to can be part of a growing community of individuals who realise that actually, together we are stronger.
As experts in our fields we are able to support our teachers extensively through offering a supervisory role, enabling all of our public sessions to be safe and open for our diverse community.
Classes at Anahata have been nurtured into existence with love, care and attention, are ethical, open to all members of the public regardless of gender, size, shape, ethnicity or sexual preference.
Clients can truly experience safety, the opportunity to let go and learn to access their inner wisdom safe in the knowledge those leading their classes have experiential as well as theoretical knowledge.
In it together
Our Motto "We are all one" has never been so true as it is now. How we look after each other shows us just who we are as people, as a community and as a business we aim to be compassionate, kind, supportive and to give back as much as we receive.

What our students say
"I find my weekly Yoga class is hugely beneficial to my mind & body." Mary
"I initially came to yoga on recommendation from my oncologist, he felt it might help relieve some of the symptoms of my treatment. I had also become very unfit & my joints were painful & stiff & I had very poor core strength & balance as a consequence of a serious car crash.
What I wasn't expecting was the total transformation yoga has had in so many aspects of my life.
Yes I am definitely more flexible & my core strength & balance have improved greatly, however, I wasn't prepared for how yoga & meditation has become an integral part of my every day life.
I am now pain free after years of needing strong analgesia just to be able to carry out basic daily activities. I found it difficult to look forward to events or holidays knowing the pain would restrict me & the medication would make me drowsy.
Now I have so much more energy, I sleep 100% better, my anxiety has disappeared & I just simply feel well, contented, peaceful & happy. I attribute all these positive life changing factors to yoga & meditation. I meditate every day & now practice yoga 4-5 times a week.
None of that would have happened without Daniel Groom's amazing teaching & guidance, his enthusiasm & love for yoga is beautiful & infectious. Also the welcoming, peaceful haven that has been founded & nurtured by Dawn Lister. Between them they have created a safe & non judgemental space for me to start & continue my yoga/meditation journey. Together, in their new venture, Anahata, they will be able to reach so many more people & guide them on their personal journey & create a sense of community amongst those who attend their classes. I wish them both every success & happiness, they have huge hearts & warm souls." Niki
