I have signed up for a month long trip to Borneo in 2020 to help Bornean communities build sustainable locally-led conservation and environmental projects. Projects will depend on the need at the time but could include installing clean water supplies for a whole village... or recycling plastic waste into eco-friendly building materials.
I will be contributing to very rewarding and important award-winning Camps International projects.
The experience will give me unique opportunities to integrate with new cultures, speak new languages, make new and lasting friendships and improve my leadership and team-working skills.
This trip is not a holiday. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop my personal skills and accomplish extraordinary things for people, environments and animals in need. If I decide to apply to UK universities this experience gives me the opportunity to gain additional UCAS points or a Universities Award on the successful completion of a portfolio of work alongside my expedition. The experience will set me apart from the rest of my peers in the eyes of future employers, colleges and universities.
