We've got the balls to apply for funding - have you got the balls to support our initiative and in turn make a difference to thousands of lives spent enjoying sport?!
Aylesbury Grammar School (AGS) PTA works hard to support the AGS state funded grammar school to provide the much needed equipment, enabling our students and the outside community (who use our facilities) to enjoy the various sports we can offer. We host school, community, county and national matches in various sports. The state funding the school receives is spent entirely on essential maintenance of buildings, necessary teaching equipment and staff.
Sports equipment is a luxury we cannot afford without valuable support from charitable donations.
Our students are encouraged to seek opportunities in all aspects of their lives within an inspiring and supportive environment, developing the character of our students in preparation for their future. We see our students as future ambassadors for the community and sport is an outlet which encourages teamwork, competition, resilience and acceptance throughout a diverse range of cultures, ages and abilities. Every individual is respected and encouraged to thrive in all they do, be happy and have the humility to share in others' success.
Our facilities are used by the wider community and we host a range of outside school clubs and sporting events for all. We have rugby, football, squash, handball, basketball, tennis to name a few ball sports which are available to play as a student and a wider community member.
Football and rugby are major sports in the school and we have launched this "Balls 2020 initiative" to tie in with the Cricket 100 and also promote other less popular ball games, which diversify the selection of sports on offer. Sport is a key driver to promoting resilience and community spirit whilst also encouraging students and the community to exercise and enjoy a better healthier lifestyle.
We are targeting an initial funding limit of £5k which will help purchase 2 x outdoor table tennis tables (example pictured below), a cricket scoreboard and gymnastics mats to protect those precious balls(!) when doing gym.
Should we be successful in raising more than our initial funding amount, we have plenty of other "balls initiatives" which would include purchasing a basketball scoreboard, crash mats, football goals and providing replacement balls for football, cricket and rugby - all of which are in need of an upgrade.
We have 180 new students join us each academic year and a total of just over 1,250 pupils per academic year - ranging from 11 to 18 years old. All year groups are encouraged and do get involved in various ball sports. So your contribution will provide input to thousands of lives passing through our school and in our wider community.
Being able to offer a diversified choice and upgrade our equipment means we can continue to promote exercise and enjoyment of sport for all.
We hope you can support us. We very much appreciate any donation of any size to help support our cause.
Thank you for taking time to read and hopefully help support our cause.
