AEE Summer Fan Dance
We did it
On 31st July 2019 we successfully raised £20 with 1 supporters in 28 days

I’m taking part in the AEE Summer Fan Dance which is a 24km load bearing March up Pen Y Fan twice to raise funds for Team Rubicon UK.

I’m Matt a Paramedic and Ex Royal Engineer who currently lives in Leeds.  I volunteer  with disaster response charity, Team Rubicon UK. We help people who have survived natural disaster both here in the UK and around the world. I recently deployed to Wainfleet in Lincolnshire to assist with the aftermath of the flooding and helped some of the communities most vulnerable residents who’s property and possessions had been destroyed by the flooding.  Our disaster responders are all volunteers, many of them are ex-military but all share the same desire to serve.  We providing life-saving aid to those who need it most, often those in the most remote communities where logistics for aid distribution are most challenging.
Volunteering costs nothing. But, whilst our volunteers join Team Rubicon with a unique set of skills that are highly valuable during disaster response, they still require rigorous training to give them the knowledge and experience to be a world-class disaster responder. Our set of training programmes come at a price, a price that Team Rubicon UK absorb so as to ensure we create the opportunity for the very best candidates to join our organisation. To complete the full training programme costs £1,000 per volunteer. As a ‘Greyshirt’ volunteer I am
hoping to raise as much as possible for Team Rubicon. URGENT DISASTER RESPONSE APPEAL
Our teams have just returned from Mozambique in the wake of Cyclone Idai and subsequent flash flooding. Their focus was on locating the most remote communities who had been shut off following the flooding, assess their needs and then organising the delivery and

distribution of aid, often only possible by helicopter or aircraft. Without Team Rubicon, thousands of people in these most cut-off communities would not have received aid.
With hurricane season fast approaching we need your urgent support to ensure we can respond to the next disaster with the same impact. Without funding, our teams cannot be deployed to help those most in need. Our Mozambique operation cost just £1.01 per beneficiary. Your contribution can make a significant difference.
Please donate whatever you can to help us help more people suffering on their darkest
day.
