I have personally been involved in Debt Advice for more than 10 years.
Sidcup Debt Advice (SDA) has a vision to offer free advice to all who contact us in the Sidcup and surrounding areas. Within the Debt process we would see the clients by appointment, liaise with creditors and be the contact point with them on behalf of each client, arriving at an agreed Financial Statement and eventual Debt Management Plan.
SDA is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 763553) and carry out all advice and creditor liaison within the FCA rules for debt advice charities such as ours. We are part of a UK network called Community Money Advice which has approximately 160 debt advice centres in the UK.
Debt Advice is a paper-intensive activity and the administration requires people. There is one paid 7hr a week administrator and 1 admin volunteer (as well as 8 volunteer advisors). We desperately need to increase the hours to manage the increased workload we are experiencing since our opening in February 2018.
