For most of us, getting around on a daily basis is easy. We can walk up stairs, squeeze through tight spots and pretty much reach whatever we need. But for those of us with a disability or the need for a wheelchair, daily life looks very different. There are places you may not be able to visit, impossible obstacles in the way and only a handful of facilities at your disposal.
We are so passionate about ensuring our classes & services are available for everyone. Whether you're rocking your own wheels, fashioning a frame or pushing a buggy; we want you to come to FRESH. with ease & comfort.
But we need a little help. As with all building work, additional costs come out of the woodwork (literally) all the time and before you know it the budget is stretched beyond it's limits. We had naively planned for a lower cost ramp option which we discovered was not appropriate for the space... Our most used phrase for this project is: 'You don't know what you don't know'.
While we are happy to finance this ourselves, a few people have suggested we offer it out as a community fund so that other people can contribute to this wonderful, much needed asset. Whether it's £10, £50 or even a large donation, we would be so grateful for any help that you can give us towards this.
We have been lucky enough to receive some funding from Sport England that went towards renovating the space to ensure it was fit for purpose, including professional sprung flooring, soundproofing, insulation & air conditioning. This project has been (understandably) very expensive and we've had to put huge amounts of our own savings behind it too. We believe this space is so needed within the community & we hope that our potential members will want to help create a space that's inclusive for all.
We firmly believe that we can widely change the way physical and mental health is viewed, that fitness and self-care will no longer be a luxury but a way of life for all. We aim to integrate the importance of looking after your body and mind with all users, creating a society of people who put their own wellness at the forefront of their life choices.
