Access Aspiration

Supporting schools with career and university support. Helping students improve their confidence, networks, CVs and employability.

We did it!

On 26th Oct 2016 we successfully raised £21,720 of £20,000 target with 43 supporters in 28 days

New stretch target

If we raise more money we will focus on delivering more of our programme for our existing students.  We can never provide enough, despite doubling our output each year, and we would use this stretch target to invest in more businesses and volunteers being able to offer something worthwhile to students.  Be part of the change and get involved.  We are always looking for professionals to volunteer in and out of school, for businesses to work with us and for great advice as we grow.

Access Aspiration works across London where there is either significant disadvantage or where schools are struggling to provide aspirational work placements and networks.  Today 46% of London employers offer work experience and 20% offer 'work inspiration' - something we call 'industry insight'.  We want to increase these figures and enable more businesses to take part.  Offering even a couple of hours insight to business and employment decisions enables young people to understand more clearly where their talent will fit.  Our goal is to enable another school to take advantage of our programme - another 280 young Londoners better equipped for University, Apprenticeships and jobs.

By taking part in our campaign you will be more closely connected with London's diverse talent pool, get to meet our inspirational businesses and volunteers and be part of the movement to increase social mobility in and around London.  Our rewards are directly linked to our schools and businesses - you will get to see your impact at first hand.

We have a track record of working with inspirational small and medium sized employers in and around London (as well as few large employers).  We also source strong professional volunteers to expand young people's understanding and experience of the breadth of careers on offer today.

The students we work with would not otherwise be able to reach these sorts of employers or make these networks without us.  As our students move on to University and work we can see the real benefit that comes from our work.

£25,000 will provide one of our target schools with two years of support for their Sixth form.  We are FREE to schools which enables us to concentrate on the quality of what we do.  We are also free to employers and work collaboratively to enable them to engage with a group of young people they previously did not access.

We rely on private, corporate and trust support to fund this programme.

The placements our students were offered through your programme (...) were life changing. Students returned with an enhanced perspective about work and themselves ... Thank you.”

Emma Loveland, Watford UTC

They are more mature and sensitive - attuned a little more to the qualities and skills required of them in the workplace.”

Martin Hanlon, Evelyn Grace Academy

Access Aspiration has provided dozens of our students with outstanding work experience placements. Having worked with a range of other providers, we have found Access to be particularly successful because of the care that goes into arranging them. All placements are well organised and present students with great variety and challenge; in many instances, the placements have inspired students to pursue a particular degree subject. If there were more placements on offer I'd be wanting every one of our students to complete one, without hesitation.”

Sam Dobin, Deputy Head, Brampton Manor Academy

We provide:

  • industry insights
  • mock interviews
  • employability training
  • work experience

which we believe leads to greater confidence, better networks, greater ability at interview and stronger personal statements therefore increasing a young person's chances of getting a good job or getting into the University and course of their choice.

Our schools have between 40 and 600 students in the sixth form. It costs us £90 each year to support a sixth form student.

£25,000 will help us to take on another medium sized school with a sixth form of 140 for two years.

Help us with our goal.
