Abuse Prevention Workshops for Communities
A Positive Start CIC also provides an abuse prevention workshop known as S.T.A.N.D© for the benefit of parents, guardians & caregivers, aiming to raise public awareness, promote social responsibility and safeguard children for abuse
Reduce, Renew, Recycle, Reinvest - Sustainability.
We aim to sustain our project through the resale of donated household goods, which will be up-cycled and sold online in our Community Shop - providing an excellent training opportunity for our candidates. We have chosen not to open a second hand furniture store as not to impact negatively on another charity in the town providing this service.
We provide low cost community services and support candidates in the planning, development and delivery of projects that aim to benefit the community, from projects such as 'Help the High Street' - listing small businesses online, to turning waste ground into a veg garden or a pleasant seating area for the weary.
Our long term plan is to create local jobs for local people. After 8 weeks of confidence building and learning new skills, we need to be able to create jobs for people which is our aim
Hawick in the Borders is a beautiful place, and was once a thriving town, famous for its Cashmere, and Knitwear industry, with the majority of its population, employed in the mills. Sadly, now a dying industry, most of the mills have gone and with them, local jobs. Like many towns across the UK, Hawick High Street has seen a 42% drop in footfall just within the last three years with small businesses really struggling.
There are thousands of people in communities up and down the country who are isolated, living in poverty and struggling - A Positive Start CIC aims to support people by building confidence & teaching new skills, encouraging people to get involved and develop ideas for projects that benefit their local communities with a view to creating jobs from these projects.
Time for Action!
We have ideas, lots of brilliant ideas. We have tonnes of passion and enthusiasm. We have an excited, outstanding team of volunteer members, sleeves rolled up, ready and able to make things happen. We have leadership, structure and focus - everything we need Except the funds!
We appreciate £100,000 is a lot of money. but if enough people believe in us and our worthwhile project -if 100,000 people believe us - then its only £1 each and it only takes one person to start us off and then pass it on. £100,000 will not just allow us to get this project up and running, it will allow us to provide jobs for people following their training placements, providing them and their families with real change and hope for the future. It will allow us to deliver abuse prevention workshops; safeguarding children in our communities - because they are the future.
