Hi i’m James. I’m a mental health recovery worker and I work for Rethink Mental Illness charity. One of my lifetime ambitions was always to run the London Marathon and in April of this year, I finally bucked up the courage to sign up after years of “missing the deadline”.
I spent hours figuring out a fun way of raising money that could bring people together and finally decided to host a music event.
Admittedly, I am a music fanatic. Music has been a major part of my life and it has helped me through tough times myself.
After deciding on a drum and bass music event, I began contacting record labels and some kindly sent me various merchandised goods. We have a fantastic lineup that includes artists from major Drum and bass labels and we will be giving a university student the opportunity to perform at the event.
The situation currently stands that we have chosen the venue, DJ’s are soon to be confirmed and a graphic designer is kindly working on our flyer design. This crowd funder will provide us with capital towards venue hire, equipment and promotional costs.
All profits made from the event will be put into my London Marathon fundraising campaign for Rethink Mental Illness. This money is vital for our services to support individuals in with serious mental health problems who are at times, in crisis. The money contributes towards staffing, training and also supported housing placements, to name a few positive locations for any funds raised.
