To provide a kitchen for the Bennett Centre

New stretch target

Thank you so much! We have achieved our initial target with a few days to spare. This is fantastic news and is a very positive step in getting this wonderful building back to life working for the community. Any further contributions in the remaining six days will allow us to up the quality of the final finish and fittings, so any donations will be most welcome. THANK YOU.

The Bennett Centre – set in Vicarage Street in the heart of Frome – is a wonderful community building that we have been sympathetically bringing up to modern standards over the past few years. Through a whole host of fundraising activities, as well as generous donations and grants – not to mention the amazing efforts of our army of volunteers – we are getting there. Two floors are now complete, and we are currently installing the main toilets.

But we don’t yet have a kitchen in the building. A proper kitchen would mean the Bennett Centre could be used for many more events and activities: currently it’s a mammoth operation to serve a meal there: all the preparation has to happen elsewhere and the dirty crockery etc has to be taken away to be washed up.

So this is what our crowdfunding initiative is all about: providing a kitchen for the Bennett Centre.

Do please help us if you can!

A couple of other points

We hope that our video tells our story clearly – and many of you who live in Frome will have been to a function in the Bennett Centre at some time and know the building too. But if you haven’t visited – or haven't visited recently – and would like to see what we are doing, do please get in touch via our Facebook page and we will be pleased to take you round.

About rewards: we've thought long and hard about this, and in the end we felt that we should make sure every penny donated goes to the kitchen installation. So we aren’t offering rewards as such. But we are keen to acknowledge our grateful thanks to everyone who helps us achieve our target so we will list the names of all contributors on one of the walls of the completed kitchen.

Thank you very much for your help.
